Global Trends and Strategic Time Horizons in Philanthropy 2021 Survey
Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors welcomes the participation of all philanthropies and individual donors from around the world in our latest survey on global philanthropy trends and strategic time horizons.
Strategic time horizons are increasingly becoming the subject of thoughtful discussions within philanthropic organizations, causing a shift away from in-perpetuity models as the default approach. Driven by our mission to help donors around the world create thoughtful and effective philanthropy, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is exploring how these decisions are being made, and how they impact the overall approach and operations of donors and their institutions.
About the Survey
This second iteration of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors’ biennial survey seeks to explore trends in the diverse landscape of global philanthropy. Strategic time horizons in philanthropy—the length of time over which a donor or foundation seeks to engage in philanthropic giving—and how funders think about and approach this topic is a particular focus.
Who Should Take the Survey?
This survey is designed for a wide range of philanthropic operations and foundation types, including but not limited to independent/private endowed foundations, family-led philanthropies (foundations and offices), corporate foundations, community foundations, and private business vehicles.
The survey is open to all levels of staff affiliated with responding philanthropies. However, it is most suitable for those in leadership, management, or program officer roles.
How the Survey Results Will be Used
Survey results will be analyzed and included in a publicly available research report available in 2021/2022 via Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors’ website, www.rockpa.org. Additional data and insights not included in the report may be used for articles, content/visualization and donor education materials.
Time Commitment and Privacy
Responding to the survey will take approximately 25-30 minutes. The survey can be taken anonymously/confidentially, and no responses will be attributed or shared on an individual basis. However, if you would like to be interviewed for a case study related to this exploration, you will have an opportunity to specify this at the end of the survey.
Contact Information for Questions
If you have any questions about the survey or the resultant report, or would like to be contacted for future research initiatives, please reach out to Olga Tarasov, Director of Knowledge Development at otarasov@rockpa.org.
